The story of North Salmon
North Salmon is an Icelandic aquaculture company founded by fisheries and marine biologist Guðmundur Val Stefánsson (Cand. Scient). The company is committed to sustainable, land-based salmon farming, utilizing Iceland’s clean water and renewable energy to produce high-quality Atlantic salmon while minimizing environmental impact.
With a strong foundation in science and sustainability, North Salmon is developing key projects in the Eyjafjörður region, including a 400-ton smolt facility at Árskógssandur and a full-scale salmon farming site planned for Hauganes. These operations use closed containment systems to protect natural ecosystems and ensure optimal conditions for fish welfare and growth. North Salmon has received enthusiastic support from local communities and regional authorities, with formal endorsements and well-attended public meetings reinforcing its role in sustainable rural development.
Now operating under the guidance of Björg Capital Management (BCM), the company continues to grow strategically with a focus on innovation, transparency, and long-term environmental responsibility.
